COP BASTARD Beginner Guide

COP BASTARD is built around decisive room-clearing, not skill trees. Read the room, spend slow motion when it changes the fight, and keep moving before the next shooter owns the corridor.

Know the campaign rules first

The official description is unusually direct: the campaign has no puzzles, perks, upgrades, or aiming down sights. That makes this a positioning shooter. Your progress comes from reading angles, choosing a weapon for the next room, and executing cleanly rather than building a character sheet.

Do not confuse campaign rules with Endless Mode. The achievement list explicitly refers to upgrading every weapon to maximum in Endless Mode, so upgrades exist there even though the story campaign does not use them. Keeping those modes separate prevents a common bad-guide mistake.

Use a three-beat room-clearing loop

Pause at the threshold long enough to identify the first threat, enter with one target already chosen, then relocate after the opening shot. Doorways are useful for information but dangerous as permanent cover. The game sells speed and brutality, yet the safest speed comes from committing to a sequence instead of reacting to every enemy at once.

Treat slow motion as a correction tool. Spend it when several targets can fire together, when you need a difficult headshot, or when a close-range shotgun setup must land immediately. The CLOCK PUNCHER achievement asks you to clear Osaka Chemicals without slow motion, which also proves that the mechanic is helpful rather than mandatory.

  • Scan before crossing a doorway.
  • Pick the first target before entering.
  • Fire, then change your angle.
  • Save slow motion for overlapping threats.
  • Use a fresh attempt for no-damage or no-slow-motion challenges.

Build habits around the confirmed weapons

The achievement objectives confirm three named firearms: the Beretta, shotgun, and magnum. Beretta milestones reward sustained pistol use and a 25-meter headshot. The shotgun has a two-enemies-at-once challenge and a 500-kill mastery target. The magnum challenge demands six kills inside ten seconds, so it rewards a prepared room rather than casual single shots.

Spitting is a signature action, but one achievement requires completing a level without it. That makes “spit at everything” a poor universal rule. Learn the normal combat loop first, then isolate restriction achievements so you always know which action invalidated the run.

A clean route through the game

  • Finish the tutorial to unlock POLICE Academy complete! and learn the full control set.
  • Play the campaign once on a comfortable difficulty without stacking challenge conditions.
  • Replay individual levels for no-damage, low-health, no-spit, and no-slow-motion objectives.
  • Start Hard only after normal rooms feel predictable; hard completion has its own achievement.
  • Move to Endless Mode for floor 10, leaderboards, and maximum weapon upgrades.
